The Not-So-Perfect Day

If you would like to read a happy story of a perfect day where everything goes well, this is not your post. Please visit "The Perfect Day" post from about a year ago. But, if you don't mind hearing a little bit of my other reality, read on.

The day started out with Bradley waking up at 5. I was out so my very sweet husband got to take care of that one. (Even not so perfect days have highlights) Then, I got up early to exercise with Reesa, Deb, and Rachel. Oh how I hate getting up before 6. I do love those women, though.

So, I get home, and this debt collector calls me. Apparently, we got a ticket in Albuquerque for running a red light back in 2011. What??? I didn’t even know about this ticket. At all. And the lady on the phone was such a jerk. I am so grateful that I have never before had to deal with a debt collector, and I hope to never have to again. Uggh. Worst phone call EVER. Okay. I can’t dwell on that. Moving forward.

So, the boys have just been tough today. Really whiny and clingy. (Perhaps they could sense their mother's overall irritation at the world) I was sitting at the table and Noah crawls under the table to come see me. Then he was trying to stand up, bumps his head on the table, cries, tries to stand up again, bumps his head on the table, cries, and again, tries to stand up, bumps his head, and cries. (all within a couple seconds...I wasn't just watching him passively do this, for the record) . Once I realize he is trying to come see me, of course I move the table and pick him up. Son, at some point you are going to have to learn from previous mistakes.

A bit later, I was sitting on the couch talking to Mike on the phone. Bradley climbs onto the backrest right above me and yells, “Catch me mommy!!” (He must have been listening to conference) and then takes a flying head-dive leap over the top of me, straight into the carpet. He got carpet burn on his face from that one. And he was sad. Naturally.

Next: after about an hour of getting ready (putting on shoes, taking off shoes, going potty, Bradley stripping his pants off, putting pants back on, putting shoes back on...changing Noah, putting shoes back on...why can't we just leave our shoes on?!?) we went to Walmart, and I told him he could walk as long as he stays close to me, just like I do every time we go to any store. Well, we walk past the bathrooms and Bradley yells, “Potty!” and runs straight into the men’s room. What am I supposed to do?? So I try to call him out, but no. He will not listen. So I do, in fact, have to go in and get him, calling out warnings the whole way in. (And yes, there were men in the bathroom when I went in...all behind stalls, thank goodness!) For some reason, Bradley loves to go potty in public bathrooms. It is unexplainable.

All I have to say is that naptime was/is particularly sweet today. The end.

Noah's Big Brother

On Saturday at our ward breakfast, Bradley was running around with the other kids. After feeding Noah I let him down on the floor to play for a little bit, and he started crawling after Bradley and the other kids. He was slower, but still followed them as best he could. Not too long after I put him down, I saw Bradley come over to Noah, get on his hands and knees and start crawling with him. He didn't do it the for a very long time, but it was heartwarming to see him welcome his little brother. Later, about the time to go, I called for Bradley and Noah. I could see Bradley and he started running over. I called Noah's name as well, he was hidden behind a table and didn't see me, but Bradley ran over to Noah and showed him how to get back to our table. Bradley still likes to steal Noah's toys on occasion and practice his tackling on him, but he loves his little brother.

Why I am going bald

It starts off innocently enough...Noah sitting on Aunt Megan's shoulders...

The sly grin found on Noah's face is your first clue...

Next thing you know, you are trapped and well on your way to being bald.

*Special thanks to Megan for being our demonstration model

Speaking of Megan, Noah loves her to death. Now, Megan is great, and what's not to love, but Noah is seriously obsessed with her. (for example, she came to my house this week, but had a cold so wasn't going to hold him. He just stared at her for like, a half an hour with these sad, 'please hold me' eyes. Every once in awhile, he would lunge at her. He would not be distracted. Finally, I either had to let her hold him, or fork out lots of money for counseling) Needless to say, he just is nuts about his Aunt Megan. I finally figured out why...

Sitting Up!

Noah can sit up! He can also balance a monkey on his head. How many of you can say that?
